This is my dream set up!! I have the D700 and the 14-24, which is way more than i expected in terms of quality and sharpness, I’m looking to fill the rest of the trinity along with the 105 macro. Also use the same Lowepro AW an excellent bag. Thank you for posting this video!

@VicTheVicar I prefer zooms over prime as the zoom enables me to compose the scene better. When I am out in the field it is not always possible to get closer or move further away to compose the image you want. You really don’t want to be changing lenses out in the field unless you have to. In regards to the weight of the bag, you get used to it. Having said that, I don’t necessarily take everything everywhere. That is why I have a few bags of different sizes.

I’m curious why you prefer a mid-range zoom instead of a prime lens or two? I mean, with such a bag it must be damn heavy to carry around all day. Spontaneously, I imagine that I would be distracted from seeing all the great pictures that could be taken if I had to carry around something that heavy. But, I’m not a professional.

I will need to update this video, as I am now using a Nikon D3s body as my main body. I have also upgraded the backpack to a Lowepro ProTrekker 600AW and the shoulder bag to a Lowepro Magnum 650AW.

rockabilly407 January 14, 2012 at 1:59 am

Great set-up! I’ve got twin D700’s as well with a 24-70 2.8G mounted on one body and a 70-200 2.8G VR II on the other body. Plus a 17-35 2.8D and 105 2.8 VR Macro. No tele-converter though.

KENGOLDSTEINPHOTO January 14, 2012 at 2:35 am

For Landscape photography I would recommend a Nikon 24-70 F2.8 lens and a Nikon 14-24 F2.8 lens. For wildlife, you should ideally have a 70-200 F2.8 lens for basic wildlife shots, if you want to get hard core in wildlife, you should consider a 200-400 F4 lens or one of the super telephoto, like a Nikon 400mm F2.8 or a Nikon 600mm F4 lens. For bugs I would recommend a 105mm Macro lens. These are the pro levels lenses. If you can’t afford these, try and get similar focal length amateur lenses.

PaintbalGeek211 January 14, 2012 at 3:16 am

um can some one tell me the equipment a beginner should get for like land scapeing and wildlife pictures. i would also like to take pictures of bugs. so please responded my birthday is coming and really want to get the right stuff

geonlansis January 14, 2012 at 3:30 am

Whoa, you’ve got all the needed lens and body. But maybe another body for the ultra wide angle lens just in case?

KENGOLDSTEINPHOTO January 14, 2012 at 4:00 am

Thanks for the feedback. I am glad you enjoyed the video
